How to use convert image to jpg
Use this converter when a destination accepts JPEG but your image is PNG or WebP. The browser creates a real JPG rather than renaming the extension. JPEG has no alpha channel, so transparent areas are painted white. Choose quality for the intended use, and keep the original when transparency or repeated editing matters.
- Select a supported static PNG or WebP; existing JPEG input can also be re-encoded.
- Choose the JPEG quality setting, keeping readability in mind.
- Process the file and inspect the white-background result.
- Read the actual format, dimensions and bytes, then download the JPG.
A practical example
A transparent PNG logo converted here will have a white background in the JPG. That may suit a form that requires JPEG, but it is not suitable if the final design must remain transparent over a coloured page.
Supported files and limitations
- Supported image inputs are JPEG, PNG and WebP; HEIC, SVG, GIF and arbitrary file formats are not promised.
- JPEG encoding is lossy and original EXIF/DPI metadata is not retained.
- The quality setting does not set an exact maximum byte size or assess visual quality automatically.
Troubleshooting
My transparent artwork gained a white rectangle. Is that expected?
Yes. JPG cannot keep transparent pixels. Keep PNG/WebP if transparency is required by your use case.
The JPG is still too large for a form. What should I use?
Use a dedicated KB target or resize to the allowed dimensions, then inspect the new result rather than repeatedly renaming files.
Questions about convert image to jpg
Does changing .png to .jpg in the filename convert it?
No. A real conversion rewrites the image encoding. This tool creates and measures a JPEG file.
Can this turn HEIC or SVG into JPG?
Those formats are not supported by this release. Use a trusted workflow that explicitly supports your source format.
Will the JPG always be smaller than the PNG?
No. Size depends on image content and quality. Compare the actual byte report; a format conversion is not a guaranteed saving.
Are the pixel dimensions preserved?
The decoded image width and height are retained. Use Resize Image when you want different dimensions.
