How to prepare your GATE photo and signature

  1. Take a clear, recent photo in good light against a plain white background, or scan your signature on white paper.
  2. Choose the picture in the tool above. For the photo, use the sliders to keep your face in the centre.
  3. Press the button. FileNimbo makes a JPG at the exact pixel size and inside the KB limit the GATE asks for.

GATE photo and signature rules

  • Photo: colour, plain white background with no other objects or people, face covering 60–70% of the photo. No cap or sunglasses; normal glasses are fine without glare.
  • Photo shape: width-to-height ratio between 0.66 and 0.89. A live photo is also taken.
  • Signature: black or dark blue ink, filling 70–80% of the image, height-to-width between 1:2.75 and 1:3.75. No initials, all-capitals or digital signature.

What is the photo size for GATE 2026?

The GATE asks for a JPG photo of 5–600 KB. FileNimbo makes it 530 × 690 pixels.

What is the signature size for GATE?

A JPG signature of 3–300 KB. FileNimbo makes it 580 × 180 pixels.

Why does the GATE form reject my photo or signature?

Most rejections are a file outside the KB range, the wrong pixel size, a blurred or dark picture, or the wrong format. Files made here are JPG and inside the limits shown; also follow the content rules listed above.

Is my photo uploaded to FileNimbo?

No. The picture is processed inside your own browser. FileNimbo never receives it, and nothing is stored.
