How to use passport photo maker

This tool frames a photograph into a fixed 413 × 531 pixel JPEG, approximately a 35 × 45 mm print size at 300 DPI. Horizontal and vertical controls let you position the crop. It does not identify a country’s passport rules, judge head size or lighting, replace a background, or certify the photograph as biometric.

  1. Start with a clear supported portrait and consult the destination’s current photo instructions.
  2. Adjust the horizontal and vertical position sliders while watching the live crop.
  3. Process the fixed 413 × 531 pixel result and inspect the full head, shoulders and available margins.
  4. Check the JPG byte size and the receiving authority’s content and print requirements before use.

A practical example

A wider source can be cropped to the portrait ratio without stretching the person. Move the horizontal control to keep the subject centred, then confirm that the resulting 413 × 531 pixels match the requirement you are following.

Supported files and limitations

  • The preset is fixed at 413 × 531 pixels. It is not a list of verified passport, visa or examination presets.
  • Embedded JPEG DPI metadata is not guaranteed. Actual printed size also depends on print scaling and printer configuration.
  • No automatic background replacement, face measurement, expression check or official acceptance validation is performed.

Troubleshooting

Part of the head is outside the crop. Can the tool invent more space?

No. Try the position controls or choose a source with more surrounding space. A different photograph may be necessary.

The dimensions match but the form rejects it. Why?

A form may require different pixels, bytes, a background, head proportion, live capture or other content. Follow its current official specification rather than the tool’s name.

Questions about passport photo maker

Is this photo officially approved for a passport?

No. It is a general crop preset, not biometric certification or approval by an authority.

Does 413 × 531 pixels guarantee 35 × 45 mm on paper?

No. It is a nominal pixel equivalent near 300 DPI. Confirm print dimensions and disable unwanted print scaling in your print workflow.

Can I change the background to white?

This tool crops and exports JPEG. It does not remove or replace an existing background.

Can I choose another passport size?

This preset has fixed output dimensions. Use Crop Image and Resize Image for a different specification you have independently checked.
