How to use photo size checker
This checker separates the measurements that often get mixed together during an upload. It decodes a supported image, reports actual bytes and pixels, and compares them with your chosen maximum and optional exact dimensions. Detected file content is used for the format check; a filename extension alone is not proof of the encoding.
- Select the original image you intend to submit.
- Enter the maximum decimal KB value and, if required, the exact width and height.
- Choose the required format or leave it as Any, then run the check.
- Read each pass/fail result and correct the relevant measurement with the linked tool if needed.
A practical example
For instructions requiring JPG, 50 KB maximum and exactly 300 × 400 pixels, enter 50, 300 and 400 in the corresponding fields and select JPG. A PNG at the right dimensions still fails the format requirement; a large JPG can fail the bytes requirement independently.
Supported files and limitations
- The checker evaluates the values you supply, not an official exam or portal rules database.
- It does not alter the image, verify identity, assess visual content or test upload acceptance.
- The current input-format support is static JPEG, PNG and WebP; it is not a PDF size/dimension inspector.
Troubleshooting
Why did an image pass dimensions but fail size?
Pixel dimensions and encoded bytes are different properties. Compression or a permitted format change may be needed without changing the pixels.
Why did the format check fail even though the filename ends in .jpg?
The detected bytes may use another supported format. Convert the image properly rather than only changing its extension.
Questions about photo size checker
Does checking change or download a new image?
No. This is a read-only measurement report. The original selected file is left unchanged.
What happens if I leave width or height blank?
That dimension has no entered requirement. It is still reported, but the checker does not invent an exact pixel rule.
Is KB measured in decimal bytes?
Yes. Entering 50 KB compares the image with 50,000 bytes.
Can all checks pass and a form still reject the photo?
Yes. A site may enforce content, minimums, metadata or other requirements this checklist does not assess.
