How to use split pdf
This split workflow makes exactly two files at one cut point. The first download contains page 1 through the page number you enter; the second contains the rest. It is useful for separating a cover section from the body of a supported document. Use Extract PDF Pages when you need a selected range or a different listed order instead.
- Select one ordinary unlocked PDF containing at least two pages.
- Enter the page after which the document should split.
- Process and download both result links separately.
- Open both files and check that the cut occurs at the intended page and no required pages are missing.
A practical example
For a ten-page input, Split after page 3 produces a three-page first file and a seven-page second file. Splitting after 10 is invalid because it would leave no pages in the second document.
Supported files and limitations
- Only one cut point and two outputs are provided per operation; there is no automatic one-file-per-page mode.
- The cut point must be an integer between 1 and the source page count minus 1.
- Inputs are limited to supported ordinary unlocked PDFs of at most 500 pages; sensitive features are refused, not silently flattened.
Troubleshooting
Why is the split page number rejected?
Both output files need pages. Select a number from 1 to one less than the total page count, and enter an integer rather than a range.
I only wanted pages 2–4. Why are there two downloads?
Split always divides into two contiguous parts. Use Extract PDF Pages with 2-4 to create just that selected range.
Questions about split pdf
Does Split after page 3 include page 3 in the first file?
Yes. The first file includes the entered page; the second starts at the following page.
Can I split a one-page PDF?
No. There is no valid cut point that leaves a page in both output files.
Can I automatically make one PDF for every page?
That mode is not implemented here. Use the available two-part split or selected-page extraction as appropriate.
Will the input file be edited?
The original stays unchanged. New supported PDFs are generated for download after checks.
