How to use merge pdf
Merge copies supported pages from two or more PDFs into a new document. Every page of the first selected file comes before every page of the next file. Ordinary page text and geometry can be retained; signed, interactive, tagged, annotated or otherwise advanced documents are rejected to avoid quietly discarding their features.
- Choose at least two unlocked PDFs, in the order they should appear.
- Review the selected-file list; the interface does not rearrange pages after selection.
- Run the merge and read any feature-protection or size-limit message.
- Open the new PDF and check page count, document order, text and rotated pages before sharing.
A practical example
Combining a two-page cover document with a three-page appendix produces five pages: cover 1–2 followed by appendix 1–3. To reverse those groups, clear and reselect the files in the reverse order.
Supported files and limitations
- Up to 16 files, 50 MiB per PDF and 100 MiB combined are accepted; merged output is limited to 500 pages.
- Encrypted inputs are not unlocked. Signed/forms/annotations/bookmarks/attachments/tags and other detected advanced features are refused.
- This combines pages, not editable paragraph content. It does not OCR scans or guarantee smaller output.
Troubleshooting
Why did an otherwise viewable PDF get refused?
Viewing is different from safe page rewriting. The source may contain a form, signature, annotation, bookmark, attachment or other protected structure; use the original or a specialist preservation workflow.
Can I move one page between the selected files?
Not within this merge interface. It appends each file’s complete page sequence. Extract supported pages first if you need a smaller component document.
Questions about merge pdf
Is the output order based on filenames?
It follows the selected-file order displayed by the browser and keeps the page order within each PDF. Review that list before processing.
Will a digital signature stay valid?
Signed sources are rejected for merge rather than being rewritten with a misleading signature-preservation claim.
Can it merge scanned pages?
Ordinary unlocked scan PDFs can be copied as pages, but no OCR or automatic scan enhancement is performed.
Why might the merged PDF be larger than expected?
The new document must carry its copied page resources and structure. Merging is not a target-size compression workflow.
